石院村是旧县镇下辖的行政村，位于镇境东部，南面与新坊村相邻，北面与扁山村接壤。村子东西长约3公里，南北长约1.5公里。[1]

村名的来历是：村南有石灰石，过去村民多以烧石灰为生，村内院落也多，因而称石院。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

土地革命时期村子已有乡苏维埃组织，民国时为乡下的石院保。解放后曾并入白砂区、设高级社，1958年公社化后改称大队，属旧县公社管理。[2]

1984年改为旧县乡石院村民委员会，2012年改称旧县镇石院村民委员会。[2]

地理环境与经济[edit]

村中一条南北走向的溪流穿村而过，出水口汇入九曲隔。村子北低南高，四周为青山环绕。[1]

村中有大量石灰岩，上世纪中叶，村里曾设两处大型石灰窑，石灰销往附近各村。农业以水稻为主，也引入种植烤烟，并有养猪场、养鸡场和一座合资的水电站。[1]

历史人文[edit]

博雅地名网记载，女红军邓六金童年在此村长大，村中她的故居旧址尚存。据百度百科，她是新坊村人，两说各有依据。[1][4]

大任头自然村内有江氏宪经公祖神祠。石院坑的清代牛角屋古民居为群体建筑，屋宇布局为三栋两摆。[1]
