玉女村距县城约5公里。村名源于村北旧县河西岸的一块傀儡石，石形似美女，传说为仙女下凡；村民最初居住在下游，称玉女下，后简称玉女。[1]
村中山林5000多亩，其中生态公益林占3000多亩；耕地约1700亩。地形上三面环水，人多地少。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时设玉女保，隶三益乡。解放初仍属三益乡，1953年改归附城区的玉女乡。1955年建成初级社，次年改设玉女农业高级社。[2]
1957年冬区乡调整后归城郊乡，1958年改行人民公社体制，成为城郊公社玉女大队。1966年文革期间改称长征大队，1972年又称玉女大队革领组。1984年起为城郊乡下属村，1986年改属临城乡，1993年称临城镇玉女村民委员会。[2]
文化[edit]
2025年7月，玉女村被确定为「上杭县2025年县级一村一品专业村」，主导产业为玉米。[1]
