城北社区位于上杭县城北部，处于县城腹地，因地处县城之北而得名。[1]

社区面积约3.9平方千米，属于城中村类型，区内有多处机关单位与人口集中的住宅小区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时这里为城厢镇纵龙保，因北城门称纵龙门，后又称北峰保。解放初属附城区城北乡，1958年公社化后隶属城郊公社。[2]

此后历经城郊乡与临城乡的村民委员会阶段，1993年归临城镇。2002年7月，村的建制改为社区；此前的1993年，本地称临城镇城北村民委员会。[2]

社区辖13个居民小组，住户603户，常住人口2564人，党员125人，以上数字见于博雅地名网，未注明统计年份。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年11月，社区被省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」；2023年1月，被命名为「2022年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」。[1]
