长科村是庵杰乡下辖的行政村，位于乡境北部，距乡政府所在地7.5公里，地处高寒偏远山区。[1]

村名取自地形：村域如一个狭长的山窝，当地方言“长窝”与“长科”读音相近，故称长科。[1]

地理环境[edit]

全村由19个自然村组成，设13个村民小组。林地15100亩全部被列为生态公益林，其中竹林9650多亩。[1]

村内景区有大悲山莲峰寺，为长汀县八大古寺之一；景区峰顶为长汀县境内最高峰，海拔1380多米，有福建柏、红豆杉的群落地。森林覆盖率达92%以上，村内一带是庵杰乡饮用水源重点保护区域。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地解放前属长窝村，解放后并入社背村。1958年公社化时划入红旗公社庵杰管理区，并设长科大队；1960年改属庵杰公社，大队名不变。1984年，此地改设长科村委会，归庵杰乡管辖。[1]
