中复村位于松毛岭脚下，与连城、上杭两县交界，距南山镇政府7公里。村子原名钟屋，唐代已有人开基，开基的历史近千年。[1]

因地处半溪峒盆地中心，村名中复。1929年，红军攻入长汀城后此村称红屋村；1934年红军长征转移，国民党军占此地，遂改名中复，寓有光复之意。[1]

村中的「红九军团长征出发地（观寿公祠）」为福建省文物保护单位，「红屋区苏维埃政府旧址九厅十八井」为福建省第九批省级文物保护单位。[2][3]

2020年12月，中复村入选「2020年福建省森林村庄」名单；2021年2月，列名「2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」；2021年11月，被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2022年8月，被农业农村部推介为「2022年中国美丽休闲乡村」；2022年11月，被文化和旅游部确定为「第四批全国乡村旅游重点村」；2025年3月，被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
