廖坊村位于南山镇东北边，处在长汀、连城两县交界地带，属高山小盆地，下辖三个自然村。明朝中叶，廖姓先人由上杭县古田迁入定居，村以姓氏称为廖坊。[1]
建国初，廖坊与连屋岗同属南山区廖坊乡。1965年，廖坊并入南山公社，1984年起设为廖坊村民委员会。村境内有松毛岭战役遗址群的一部分。[1][2]
2021年1月，廖坊村被命名为「2020年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」；2023年1月，被命名为「2022年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」。[1]
