牛岗村位于长汀县城东部，是进入新桥镇的第一个村，距镇政府约3公里，距县城不足10公里。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，村名与一位林姓先人有关：清康熙年间，他在此地为人放牛，后在此成家繁衍，村因此得名。[1]

土地与人口[edit]

村域土地面积0.98平方千米，全村辖5个自然村、5个村民小组，现有286户、1297人，耕地530亩，山地1036亩。[1]

汀江河绕村而过。村中维修加高了防洪河堤，堤边种有桂花、樟树和柳树。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初此地属新桥区任屋乡，1957年撤区并乡后仍在任屋乡管辖。1958年公社化时，村归新桥公社，设牛岗大队；1984年改为牛岗村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2006年，村被列入省级村庄整理示范村。[2]

2021年1月，村被命名为「2020年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」；2024年1月，被命名为「2023年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」。[1]
