元口村位于长汀县城西北方向，距县城约23公里，辖6个自然村，村里全部公路已水泥硬化。[1]
地名由来[edit]
古时村子称“严口”。因村内6个自然村的村民外出都须经过此处，要严加把守村口，故称“严口”；解放后改为“元口”。[2]
生产[edit]
村里的主要生计有竹业、烤烟、河田鸡养殖、优质稻和竹荪。其中竹荪是村里的特色产业，村民们也在林下种植淮山、辣椒和生姜等生态作物。[1]
荣誉[edit]
福建省爱卫办于2021年11月把元口村列为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年8月，龙岩市农业农村局把元口村认定为「龙岩市2022年市级“一村一品”专业村（竹材）」。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
解放前，村子属古城乡元口保管辖，解放后划为古城区元口乡的辖区。1964年公社合并后属古城公社，1984年由大队改称元口村民委员会。[2]
