正平村地处长汀北部山区，村域邻接江西省瑞金市与石城县，地处二省三县交界处，海拔约680米，是县城饮用水源的源头之一。[1]
村内老鸦山上有一块较大的平地，过往村民多经此地，平地称“镇明寨”，后谐音写作正平。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
解放初村属大同区七古一带。1958年公社化时归大同公社，1961年一度独立设公社，1965年改隶他社，1971年并入附城公社。1981年附城改称大同，1984年起设正平村民委员会。[1]
村民通过造福工程整村搬迁至同乐小区，建设正平新村。[1]
