新民村地处城郊，村中有6个自然村，共11个村民小组。村名由政府命名，寓意新型农民。[1]

西门河、龙陂河流经辖区。辖区内的主要水利设施是新民水库，其上游为上水寨水库。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1960年设新民大队，归大同公社。1961年划隶他社，1971年属附城公社，大队名称未变。1984年起归大同乡管辖，村级组织为新民村民委员会。[1]

文化[edit]

2026年1月，新民村被确定为「福建省2026年度乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
