村名取自地处县城南面的方位。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1956年4月划入大同区。1961年划入城关公社，1965年起属附城公社，1984年起称大同乡南里村。[1]

经济[edit]

村中有花卉和草莓种植基地，多家企业也落户在村域内。[2]

文化[edit]

2023年1月，南里村被命名为2022年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]
