中心坝社区位于长汀县县城东部。据博雅地名网所载，它是城区最早开发、规模也最大的住宅区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
中心坝一带原是汀江河、金沙河环绕的河坝，上世纪八十年代初开发建设，因而取名中心坝。[1]
1982年开始开辟住宅区，当时称「新村」。1986年先设立了居委会，直到2001年10月才转为社区居委会的编制。据博雅地名网所载，这是闽西最早成立的社区居委会。[1]
文化[edit]
2004年9月，中心坝社区被省委、省政府授予「社区建设示范社区」称号。2012年12月，它被福建省科协命名为2012至2014年度的示范社区。2024年1月，它获得2023年福建省卫生社区的称号。[2]
