湖背村属福建省龙岩市永定区大溪乡，是一个革命基点村。[1][2]

村名的来历：相传此地开居的是胡姓人家，为纪念胡姓开基，起名胡背；后因客家话读音相近，改称湖背。[1]

福建省绿化委员会于2022年12月命名本村为「2022年福建省森林村庄」；2023年1月与2024年1月，本村分别被命名为2022年度与2023年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]
