村名的来历：清代，游氏十六世祖游兴廷在此开基。当时村里有三口呈三角形分布的角塘，村名由此而来。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为2021年福建省「卫生村」；2023年1月，本村被命名为2022年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]
