香溪村位于堂堡镇西北部的茫荡洋南麓，北与上杭县接壤，西与合溪乡交界。[2]

村名来历：村旧名兰溪，又作上溪；明清时文人辈出，改名香溪。据雍正五年（1727年）重修的族谱序文，此名取读书人家之意。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年前，此地属上杭县大溪乡的香溪保；1949年，合溪设立农协。1958年设钢铁人民公社管理区，1961年归三堡公社，1972年改为堂堡公社香溪大队。[2]

2020年1月起，村归堂堡镇香溪村民委员会；1984年至此前，它是堂堡乡香溪村民委员会。2021年11月，香溪村获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

村中矿产有黄金和稀土，并有花岗岩石材，据博雅地名网所载，尚未大规模开采。[2]

文化[edit]

村中的万石楼为方形土楼，现已倒塌；其前后三堂共有108间房，占地约500平方米。[2]

据博雅地名网，明成化年间，村中先祖谢弼任永定开邑首任教谕，并参与编纂第一部《永定县志》；其墓在村中水口公路旁。[2]
