城下村位于虎岗镇境内，与上杭县交界，村境有茫荡洋横贯其中。村名由一段旧城的遗迹得来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：据传此地原称虎岗村头，先有郑、杨、傅、丘、王、邓六姓居住。明末清初，这些姓氏衰落之后，赖氏十一世碧峰迁来定居，并在此修建王城，城后被毁。此后乡人便称此地为城下。[1]

1949年前此地归高陂乡，称城下保。新中国成立后改归虎北乡；1960年划为虎南大队所辖，1964年又转属虎北大队，1984年仍隶属高陂乡。1987年8月划入虎岗乡，1989年前后自虎北村分出，设城下村民委员会；2015年改称虎岗镇城下村民委员会。[1]

2021年1月，城下村获评2020年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」；同年11月，福建省爱卫办将城下村命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
