虎东村位于虎岗镇东部，东边与高陂镇相邻。村名因其位于镇域东面而定：虎岗镇按东、南、西、北划分方位，居住在东面的便称虎东。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年前，此地属高陂乡；1949年后划入第七区，称虎东乡。公社化后改为虎东村，1961年属虎岗公社，其间曾称虎东大队、四联大队，1965年并入高陂公社，1984年4月重归高陂乡。1987年8月起设为虎岗乡虎东村民委员会，2015年改称虎岗镇虎东村民委员会。[1]
2023年1月，虎东村被命名为2022年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」；2024年1月，又被命名为2023年度同名称号。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
中央苏区闽西虎岗保卫战旧址（永平桥）是县级文物保护单位，位于木坑入口处。这座单孔石砌廊桥横跨永定河，始建于清康熙六十一年（1722年），嘉庆三年（1798年）增修。1930年12月，闽西苏维埃政府迁驻虎岗，此桥设哨所守卫，当地人遂又称之为「红军桥」。[2][3]
红四军第一纵队司令部旧址（务滋堂）在虎东湖洋，是民国初年建成的土木结构宅院，占地约1200平方米，院落分两进三落。1929年6月，红四军一纵队由高陂开进虎岗，司令部就驻于此堂。[2][3]
