龙潭镇位于龙岩市永定区东部，镇政府设在龙潭村，是区内的建制镇之一。全镇东面与新罗区适中镇相接，南面与南靖县接壤，西面紧邻抚市镇，北面与培丰镇为邻。[1]镇域处在永定河上游，煤炭与石灰石储藏较多，林木覆盖率高，抚适公路穿镇而过，是永定东部的交通要冲。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国以前，此地属丰田里；民国时期称上丰乡，1949年后形成龙潭乡。1958年，周边数村合组为抚市人民公社。次年，龙潭另设管理区；1961年又单独成立龙潭人民公社，1970年3月重新归并到抚市。1984年仍属抚市乡。1993年龙潭从抚市划出另设乡，下辖7个村委会；1997年改乡为镇，村委会不作变动。[2]

地理环境[edit]

2000年时，镇内林木蓄积达16.7万立方米，森林覆盖率为71.4％。[2]煤与石灰石是主要矿产，铁、锰与黏土的开采也由来已久。昌福山煤田位于境内，省属的龙潭煤矿和铜锣坪煤矿同样在此。[2]

人口民族[edit]

2000年，镇域共3352户12727人，分设7个村委会与83个村民小组，其中革命基点村有5个。[2]镇内以客家方言为主，仅联中村居民兼讲「金子学」。[2]

经济[edit]

至2000年，境内建有9家水泥厂。煤炭开采与运输是镇上的主要行业，饮食与服务业也随之兴起。[2]抚适公路穿过全镇，并与319国道相连；境内另有三条干道，分别通向抚市、适中、虞坑和枫林，矿区与林区的道路则作为支线。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

境内有喀斯特溶洞仙湖洞，位于联中村西坑一带的山腰。[3]上西村的西兴祠是镇内的古建筑，详见上西村条目。[4]

文化[edit]

福建省爱国卫生运动委员会在2022年12月授予龙潭镇「2022年福建省卫生乡镇」称号。[1]此外，镇域还先后被确定为「2022年度龙岩市平安乡镇（街道）」（2023年1月）和「2023年度龙岩市平安乡镇（街道）」（2024年1月）。[1]
