西片村位于湖坑镇，是世界文化遗产福建土楼中振福楼的所在地。村名来自溪流的走向：一条河自南溪而下绕村流过，以溪为界，西侧一片称西片村。[1]
2017年8月入选福建省第二批省级传统村落，2019年6月列入第五批中国传统村落名录。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1960年冬，村里分为四个大队，因位于湖坑西片，取名西片大队。1964年并回湖坑大队，1979年4月重新分出，恢复西片大队。[1]
1984年村级体制改为西片村民委员会，1993年乡改为镇后仍沿用此名，隶属湖坑镇。[1]
文化[edit]
村内的振福楼是圆形土楼，为苏氏民居，建于民国二年（1913年），由经营烟丝致富的苏振太动工兴建。该楼按八卦格局布局，分两环，楼内石刻楹联众多。[1][3]
振福楼是福建省第七批省级文物保护单位，据维基百科，2013年又被列为第七批全国重点文物保护单位。[3][4]
名胜古迹[edit]
西片村附近有福建土楼（永定）旅游景区、高北土楼群、洪坑土楼群和南溪土楼群等景点。村内振福楼挂牌成为廉政文化教育中心，并建有福建土楼博物馆，以振福楼为主的土楼沟旅游由此发展起来。[1][2]
大型电视剧《下南洋》曾在村内下南溪自然村取景。[1]
