历史沿革[edit]
明成化十四年（1478年），先人迁居到这片群山环抱、溪水环绕的地方，开始定居创业。[1][3]
社前早先归中丰乡管辖。新中国成立后划入第四区，一段时间叫作抚市村。1958年改属抚市公社，1965年有了社前大队这一建制。1966年至1976年间，大队的名称几经更换，最后仍称社前大队；1984年，村里设立社前村民委员会，直到今天。[1]
旧时村中以条丝烟出名，产品远播南洋，被称为「烟魁」。[1][2]
文化[edit]
每年正月十五，村里举行「走古事」民俗活动。抚市天后宫坐落在本村，建成至今两百多年，节日里前来祭拜的人不少（见抚市镇）。[1]
