高石村位于湖雷镇东南部，地处群山之中，紧临陈东乡和岐岭乡，辖石城坑、山磜头、高地、坪里四个自然村。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

高石二字各取自高地与石城坑两个地名中的一字。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1966年至1976年间一度改称光明大队，1971年复称高石大队，1976年自原大队分出设村，1984年建乡后改为高石村民委员会。[3]

经济[edit]

村民以做纸、烧炭、加工竹木制品为生。因山区光照不足，村民只种单季稻，以满足口粮。[2]
