竹兰村位于湖雷镇东南部，在增瑞水库水源头右侧，是湖雷通往陈东的必经之处。村民以赖、熊两姓为主。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村名取赤竹斜与优兰岃两个自然村中各一字。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年并入大队，1972年分出单独设立竹兰大队，1984年建乡后改为竹兰村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
山地土质肥沃，适合种植烤烟和果类。改革开放后大部分村民外出务工，外出者回乡兴办了环保型养猪场。[1]
