玉文村位于湖雷镇西北部，靠近马石山脚下，辖横坑里、杉树下、邱屋岗三个自然村。村名由杉树下与横坑里两处的名字合并而来。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

设立村民委员会时，取杉树下（玉杵）与横坑里（玉文）两处的名字，合并为玉文。[1]

行政沿革[edit]

1935年起改属堂堡管辖。1961年划归莲塘公社，1965年并入湖雷公社，此后一直隶属湖雷。[2]

历史人文[edit]

村中横坑子的水口楼一带是革命基点村。改革开放后，村民多外出到深圳、东莞、珠海等地经营糍粑、糖烟酒等生意，并在县城建了新房。[2]
