新罗村在坎市镇西南方，省道福三线从村境穿过，离镇中心只有约1.5公里。[1][2]
新罗之名与罗屋坊有关。传说最先在那里落户的是罗姓人家，后来张姓等十个姓氏陆续迁来，沿坑边居住。居民为了敬重罗姓先人，取与「姓罗」音近的「新罗」作地名，初称新罗坑，后简称新罗。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1952年至1958年9月间，这里设为浮新乡，乡中有新罗农会；1958年10月建人民公社，村子改设新罗大队生产营。此后1959至1961年间作为管理区，1969年转为革命领导小组，1972年起归大队管委会，1984年建新罗村民委员会。[2]
2020年12月，新罗村列入福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村，同一个月还进入省级森林村庄的名录。2021年11月，省爱卫办认定其为2021年福建省卫生村。[1][2]
经济[edit]
村民以矿产采掘、餐饮服务、交通运输和劳务输出谋生，运输业是村里的重要行当。[1]
