美山村隶属福建省龙岩市新罗区苏坂镇，位于新罗区东部与苏坂镇西部交界处，离镇政府约4公里，海拔均值在200余米。村名旧称“赤尾山”，新中国成立后改称美山。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖年间的《龙岩县志》记有万安里下苏坂社的一个聚落，名为“赤尾山”，其来历已无从考证。新中国成立后，改雅称为“美山”。[1]

解放前属旧美和乡，解放初归沙河区、白沙区管辖。1957年撤区并乡后归庆美乡，1958年设美山大队，隶属庆美公社。[1]

1959年起改归白沙公社，至1961年为止；1961年5月起又回到庆美公社，至1965年9月为止；1965年10月转属苏坂公社。1984年设美山村委会，此后改称苏坂镇美山村委会。[1]

2017年8月，该村进入福建省第二批省级传统村落之列；2019年6月，被收入第五批中国传统村落名录。[1]

村子被列为「第三批省级扶贫开发工作重点村」。[1]

2021年10月，村子经龙岩市农业农村局认定为「龙岩市2021年市级一村一品专业村」（蜜柚）；同年12月，又被确定为「2021年度福建省一村一品示范村」（蜜柚）。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

据2011年底数字，村中1850户、5350人；其中在家常住3000人，劳力3200人，外出打工2350人。全村5个自然村，32个村民小组。[2]

耕地3200亩，林地21000亩；村域约12平方公里。主导产业为蜜柚、脐橙、甘蔗、花生和生猪养殖。农民人均纯收入达6420元（2012年），集体经济收益15万元。[2]

文化[edit]

博雅地名网称美山村是龙岩采茶灯的发源地，镇政府网站则称苏坂镇是采茶灯的发源地，两处说法不同。[1][3]
