地名由来[edit]
村子旧称小东坑。清同治年间，本村人吴鸿恩任翰林院御史，回乡祭祖时把村名雅化为秀东。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清时此地称秀东坑。民国30年（1941年）设为秀东保。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
仰高楼又称花楼，为吴姓民居，建于清代，占地面积约2730平方米。正房三进，院落围合，主体为两层半的土木结构，中厅设屏风，祖堂斗拱有雕刻和彩画。[2]
仰高楼的建造年代，文物名录只写清代，博雅地名网则作清乾隆三年（1738年）始建。[1][2]
文物名录载仰高楼为「第四批县级文物保护单位」，公布日期是2016年5月25日；镇政府网站则写作已申报为省级文物保护单位。[2][3]
吴氏龙兴祠建成于明嘉靖十年（1532年）。博雅地名网还称村内有一片华东地区最大的野生桂花群落。[1]
