历史沿革[edit]
镇名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：溪中有一块灰色奇石，形状像一只昂首的大雁，于是得名雁石。[6]
明代，这一带的村落分属铁石乡节惠里，其中雁石社下辖的聚落包括上恼、下恼、鸡鸣、渡头等地；山前社的北山也在其内。清代到民国初年，雁石社和外山前社的范围大体属于本镇，内山前社只有一部分。[5]
1929年至1931年间，厦老、陈坑、黄田、上前、云坪一带设有外山前区苏维埃政府，河南、河北、长仑则归雁石区苏维埃政府管辖。1933年改属雁山区，次年属第二区。1941年划入岩东第一区，当时管辖的是雁石镇、厦和乡和苏吉乡。1949年11月组成雁厦区，共9个村。[5]
1953年一度设河南镇，1956年撤镇改设雁石区。1957年撤区并乡后，分出雁石乡与厦老乡，次年又组建为两个公社。1959年，厦老、岩山两个公社并入雁石公社；1961年冬天三社分设，1965年又归为一个雁石公社；1972年，岩山公社从雁石分出。1984年7月，这里改设为雁石镇。[5]
荣誉方面，2014年7月，雁石镇经国家七部委认定为全国重点镇。2021年1月，雁石镇名列「2020年度龙岩市平安乡镇（街道）」。2022年10月，经福建省农业农村厅认定，雁石镇获「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」称号。2022年12月，省级爱卫部门为它颁发「2022年福建省卫生乡镇」称号。2024年1月，雁石镇又获评「2023年度龙岩市平安乡镇（街道）」。[6]
地理环境[edit]
境内为亚热带季风气候，年均气温19.8℃，一年约有292天无霜，每逢秋冬常有浓雾。[1]
雁石盆地是新罗区除市区以外面积最大的盆地，矿藏丰富，以煤炭和石灰石为多。[4]
与龙岩市区的距离，快懂百科作23公里，博雅地名网作21公里。省道103线和漳龙铁路在境内交叉。铁路站点方面，百度百科称漳龙铁路横贯全境并设有雁石南动车站，维基百科则将雁石南站列于南龙铁路名下。[2][3][4]
人口民族[edit]
2004年末，镇域人口合计36507人，城镇占5251人，其余30256人为农村人口。[4]
2017年常住人口为24582人。两组数字年份不同，不宜直接比较。[1]
2010年前后，全镇划分为204个村民小组。[1]
经济[edit]
据2004年的概况，农业当时以瘦肉型猪、花生、果蔬和竹业为主。[4]
省级的厦龙山海协作经济区与龙雁经济开发区都设在镇内，坑口火电厂、华润水泥等工业企业也在境内。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
龙硿洞风景名胜区位于龙康村境内，地处武夷山脉南段。它的等级为国家4A级旅游景区，并属省级风景名胜区，同时构成龙岩国家森林公园的核心部分。[7]
景区溶洞形成于古生代，洞内分上、中、下三层，共有八个大厅和十六条支洞，另有一条可行船的暗河。[7]
天宫山在江山镇与雁石镇交界处，主峰海拔1594米，山上保存着圆通禅寺的建筑群。[8]
莲台山在坪坑村一带，博雅地名网称坪坑村位于莲台山脚下。[11]
雁山寺建在雁来峰上，前身是雁江南岸的观音庙，始建于清朝。[10]
苏邦东洋楼在苏邦村，这座楼的建造可上溯到清顺治七年（1650年），康熙六十年（1721年）曾经重修。是一座方形的围楼，外围绕有护楼河。2013年1月28日，它被公布为福建省第八批省级文物保护单位。据百度百科，全省仅此一座带护楼河的土楼。[9]
著名人物[edit]
博雅地名网列出的与雁石镇相关的人物中，苏庆云生于1903年，卒于1931年，出身厦老上前村。[6]
另有邓子恢、罗元发、陈仁麒、郭成柱等人被列入该网站名单；其中王全珍的身份是中国人民解放军少将，生卒为1906年至1970年。[6]
