菜园村是东肖的集镇所在地，历史上东肖区、乡、社、镇的驻地都设在此村。[1][2]村址原是一片陪嫁的菜园地，后人来此建房落户，村名由此而来。[1]2023年1月，村庄被命名为2022年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期此地属白土镇，解放初属中民村、中民乡与中民镇。1956年并入中民高级社，1958年为中民大队，1962年又析出菜园大队，1965年再并回中民大队。1980年年底，中民大队撤销；1981年，菜园分立为大队；1984年改设东肖镇菜园村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

白土暴动旧址在村内的犀牛排，是县级文物保护单位。1928年8月，龙岩、永定、上杭三县的农民武装在此会合，发动白土暴动并首次进攻龙岩城。1938年3月初，新四军第二支队在此集结，随后奔赴皖南抗日。[3]

1993年，东肖革命烈士纪念碑在犀牛排建立，占地5000平方米。[4]
