1949年时隶属东游四区，村址属水北乡。1951年成立川石十一区王厝乡，1958年水北公社设王厝大队，1984年定名为现名。[1]

2022年10月，王厝村入选「2022年度南平市“绿盈乡村”中级版村庄」名单。[1]
