重下村位于金坑乡西部，东与湖溪村接壤，南面与和平镇遥遥相对，西边紧靠大常村，北边与金坑村相邻。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历，博雅地名网记为：早先分作危家、朱家两处自然村，后来连成一片，取名为「重」，又因所处位置偏下；另记为村外的山一重又一重。[1]

1951年归湖汉乡管，属第五区；1958年归入和平公社的湖汉大队，1961年与湖汉大队一并从和平公社中划出。1980年，湖汉（今湖溪）大队的一部分划出，组成重下大队；1984年改为村民委员会。[1]

2021年11月，村庄被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2022年10月，被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2025年11月，重下村列入「福建省2025年度省级一村一品专业村」，产品为优质水稻。[1]

2011年末登记住户275户，人口976人，为汉族；芮姓是村中多数。[1]
