村庄背靠山岭，村后有小溪流过，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1951年曾设「张源下乡」。1958年这里是山源大队，1984年才改设村委会。[1]

2022年10月，山源村被列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」，该村获福建省农业农村厅确认。[1]
