历史沿革[edit]
村名原作朱岚，指本村朱洋、下岚、上岚三个自然村的合称；后因行政村中设下岚自然村，改以「下岚」为村名。[2]
元代此地为儒林乡的二十四都。解放后曾设朱岚乡，并归肖家坊区管理；1958年成为朱岚大队，同时并入桂林人民公社；1969年又更名下岚大队，直到1984年9月才定名下岚村。[2]
村内原有八个自然村，包括上岚、下岚与朱洋等。[2]
1933年至1935年间，工农红军在村内先后设立刘家苏维埃东方县政府和上岚苏维埃区政府，并设上岚十八兵站。[2]
地理环境[edit]
村内金溪的两支源头分别在盖竹村的巫山和横坑村的岩前，二者在渠岭下汇合后流入本村，全长6.2公里，于村中东北方向的高庄一带流出村外。[2]
境内最高点为李家际，海拔968米；最低点为高庄，海拔465米。[2]
境内已探明的矿藏有高岭土、稀土、大理石及建筑石材。[2]
经济[edit]
耕地2500亩，全部为水浇地，粮食作物以水稻为主，主要经济作物为烟叶。村内有竹制碳厂与环保炭厂两家企业。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村内的「中央红军上岚第十八兵站旧址」是清代建筑，博雅地名网记为县级文物保护单位。[3]
「上岚区苏维埃政府旧址」也是清代建筑，同样被记为县级文物保护单位。[3]
严续墓位于上岚自然村的双石门山一带，年代为宋至清，同样被列为文物保护单位。[3]
