地理环境[edit]
村名来源于村子后方的一片竹林。[1][4]村子坐落在松树坑山脚，地形属丘陵。[1]村内建有马兰水库。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
明清时称十二都；民国时此地设溪张堡，隶属朱坊乡。[1]1950年的归属较为复杂，各自然村分别划入朱坊乡与山下乡；此后1954年改归固住乡，1956年并入固住高级社，1958年又成为固住大队的一部分。[1]1961年，村里设立竹前大队，隶属朱坊公社，1964年把办公地点迁到三溪口。[1]1971年，朱坊与拿口两社并为一社，归拿口公社管辖；1984年，村子成为拿口镇竹前村民委员会。[1][4]
2022年12月，村被福建省爱国卫生运动委员会命名为「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
