村名来源于早年村中生长的许多扁形竹子。[1]村域北靠界竹村，西接张厝乡。[1]
经济[edit]
村里以粮食与烟叶种植为主，并有养猪和家禽饲养。[1]2018年，村中成立竹木种植专业合作社，采用村社一体的经营方式，统一经营约1800亩竹山。[2]
