外屯村是福建省南平市政和县外屯乡下辖的行政村，也是乡政府的驻地，位于县境中部，省道302公路穿村而过。全村下辖11个自然村，村域属丘陵地形。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历与一段地貌有关：古时这里称东湖，因外屯下池一带地势低平，属河谷冲积的小盆地，排水不畅，一遇洪水下池便成湖沼。宋神宗年间有魏姓人家在此定居，地名遂称魏屯，后因“魏”与“外”方言同音，转为外屯。[1][3]

民国29年（1940年）设外屯保，隶属外屯乡；民国33年改称崇仁保，隶属善化乡。1951年复设外屯乡，隶第四区；1958年改设外屯大队，属跃进公社。1969年归外屯公社，1984年改为外屯行政村，并设立村民委员会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域海拔在380米至900米之间，山多地少。全村绿化覆盖率达89%，生态林与毛竹林是村域内的主要林地，另有锥栗等经济林。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

洋后桥位于本村洋后自然村，是清代建造的木拱廊桥，桥拱跨度33米，宽4.86米，为省级重点文物保护单位。[1][3]

村东北一带有石门寺，据博雅地名网所载，该寺的来历可上溯到清代，20世纪90年代曾经重修，供奉三宝、观世音等神祇。[2]

荣誉[edit]

省爱卫办于2021年11月作出决定，外屯村获授「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2015年10月，此村被纳入福建省首批省级传统村落名单。[1]
