村前有一片田洋，村中又盛产筠竹，因而得名筠竹洋。[1]

1958年成立筠竹洋大队，划入前进公社；1970年改属镇前公社，1984年设行政村并建立村委会。[1]

在「第五批中国传统村落」的名录中，筠竹洋村的入列时间为2019年6月。[1]
