山源村位于祖墩乡境内，东侧与渭田镇接壤，南侧是坑口村，西侧挨着溪后村，北侧与严地村为界，全村分八个自然村、九个村民小组。村子原名源头，因溪流发源于山头而得名；1966年因与县内另一个同名的村重名，改称山源。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
村落始建于宋代，属崇仁乡庆原里十九都。1958年归东风公社祖墩大队所辖；1961年称祖墩乡源头大队；1966年改称山源大队；1984年恢复乡制，大队改为村。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
山源南桥位于村落南侧的山源溪上，为单孔石拱廊屋桥，廊屋五间，桥面长13.6米、宽3.7米，桥枋下有墨书题记。[1]
山源永庆桥在罗锻桥自然村东边约100米的溪流上，属清代建造的单孔石拱廊屋桥，桥面约24米长，宽4.6米。[2]

2015年10月，村子列入福建省第一批省级传统村落名单。[2]
