花桥乡位于松溪县城西北，乡政府设在花桥村，离县城十四公里。[1][5] 乡名来自村中的一座桥：清顺治六年，花桥村建起一座造型讲究的厝桥，村因桥得名为花桥，后来乡又以桥名。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋至道二年（公元996年）此地已归善政乡杉溪里，直到清末建制变动不大。民国时期辖区几经改划，先后隶属杉溪区、庆原区与杉北区，1940年建立花桥镇。1949年9月设花桥乡，归花桥区管辖。[2]

1956年4月，原乡被划成六个乡。两年后，六乡又合成三乡，同年10月三乡降为大队，编入东风人民公社。1962年，花桥、源尾两大队改设公社，路桥另设公社；1966年三个公社并为花桥公社，下辖十二个大队。1984年10月起政社分开，乡制恢复，此后辖十二个建制村。[2]

地理环境[edit]

乡域面积17.8平方千米，博雅地名网所载，未注明统计年份。[1] 境内有花岗石、莹石、高岭土和铁等矿藏，寿坑出产莹石。[1] 境内出产稻谷、茶叶、油茶和松脂。[1]

人口民族[edit]

乡内的招沙甲村属少数民族村，村中有畲族村寨。[3][6]

名胜古迹[edit]

花桥村村头的松溪花桥，旧时位于花桥通往县城的大路上，是清代建成的两墩三孔石拱廊屋桥，长36米、宽5.6米，已列入县级文物保护单位。[5][3]

长衍村东南约300米处，下洋溪上架着花桥长演桥，建于清代，单孔石拱，长27米、宽5.2米，也属县级文物保护单位。[9][3]

源尾村东北约2公里，溪尾溪横跨一座清代的单孔石拱桥，名为源尾谷司桥，长22米、宽4.2米，是县级文物保护单位。[7][3]

源尾村内还有源尾山林下遗址，年代可追溯到商代，同列县级文物保护单位。[7][3]

塘边村的松溪报恩寺建于清代，现为县级文物保护单位。[8][3]

招沙甲景区处在招沙甲村东侧：东边靠着茶洲水库，南边与大林坑自然保护区相连，西面接续九蓬的小武夷景致，北面留有狮子岩崖葬群。[3][6]

万林湖水利风景区位于乡境之内，是八条溪涧汇成的人工湖，水域面积2平方千米。湖的上游，从招沙甲到下屯村一带，为丹霞地貌，狮子岩、佛头岩、双乳峰等奇石散布其间。[3]
