地名由来与历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：最早是潘氏先民在此地开垦定居，于是取名潘墩。[1]
宋代始建村落，属东平乡豪田里二十二都。1941年，村地分属第一区署渭田乡的潘前、潘后、东豹三个保。1958年划入上游公社，称潘墩大队，1960年改隶渭田公社。1984年10月恢复乡建制，大队于是改为村。[1]
文物古迹[edit]
潘墩马山鞍遗址与马坑马石坑遗址都是商代遗址，均被公布为县级文物保护单位。[2]
荣誉[edit]
福建省农业农村厅在2022年10月把潘墩村列为第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇。[1]
