前进村位于松溪县西南方，距县城15公里，村中有前进电站水库。[1]

地名与沿革[edit]

村依山近水，初名后涧。“后涧”与“后进”读音相近，后改称前进。[1]

村子的起源可追溯到宋朝，隶属善政乡杉溪里十都。[1]

1941年，村属第二区署梅口乡，为其下的后涧保。1966年设郑墩公社后涧大队，同年改称前进大队；1984年10月，大队改为村。[1]
