止马镇是福建省南平市光泽县下辖的镇，位于县境西南部，镇政府驻止马村，距县城约二十公里。[5][2][1] 元代设大寺寨巡检司，1993年10月撤乡建镇后改称止马镇。[4][1] 镇境西侧与江西省黎川县、资溪县接壤，止马溪自南向北穿镇而过。[1][9]

地名由来[edit]

唐宋以来，此地是闽西北出闽入赣的交通要冲，设有驿站，驻扎兵马，过往的军旅和商客都在这里下马歇宿，地名由此得来。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

元代设大寺寨巡检司。明清时期按都图编制，境域分属归仁里四都、冲霄里八至十都和永福里十一都。[4]

民国时期这里设立止马区，1933年一度划入「闽赣」省的东方县。1950年再设止马区，1958年改称英雄人民公社，1959年又改为止马人民公社。1964年撤区改公社。[3]

1972年，止马公社划出李坊、杨里、百岭等七个大队，另设李坊公社；同时由华桥公社划入虎塘、双坑两个大队。[4]

1980年公社改为管委会。1984年又设乡镇体制，名为止马乡人民政府；1993年10月，乡改为镇，设立止马镇人民政府。[1][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域面积，百度百科记为160.01平方千米，博雅地名网记为152平方公里，两说均未注明年份。[1][2]

止马溪的源头在大禾山村，溪水先经何舟坪与虎塘，再过岛石，然后流经白门楼与止马，最后在水口村汇入西溪。据光泽县河长办2020年的介绍，此溪河长28.38公里，流域面积为136.37平方公里。[9]

人口[edit]

据百度百科，止马镇2019年末的户籍人口是16876人。[1] 博雅地名网另载全镇人口约7529人，未注明年份，与前者相差甚远，此处不取。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内的古关隘杉关，位于杉关村的杉关岭上。唐广明元年（880年）始建，明洪武三年（1370年）沿山脊筑起城垣，关前残墙长约1500米，外砌青条石。[7][8][6]

这处古关在2009年经公布为福建省文物保护单位（第七批），2022年又被评为「国家3A级旅游景区」。清同治三年（1864年）太平军曾经此入赣，1933年间红军也在这里歼灭了国民党的一个师。[7][8][6]

此外，岛石村的浔江朱氏宗祠、亲睦村的黄氏宗祠（均为清代建筑）和水口村的红二十二军军部旧址，都被列为县级文物保护单位。[6][2]

荣誉[edit]

近年，止马镇获得的荣誉有：2025年11月被认定为「福建省第二批省级乡村振兴示范乡镇」；2024年2月被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」的创建对象；2020年12月被福建省爱卫办命名为「福建省卫生乡镇」。更早的则有：2014年7月被住房和城乡建设部等七部委确定为「全国重点镇」，2014年6月获环境保护部授予「2012—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」称号。[2]
