杉坊村位于九牧镇东南部，与仙阳镇交界，205国道贯穿全村。村落面积约13.67平方千米，海拔454米。[2]

名称由来[edit]

杉坊原名教场坪。相传北宋时，杨家的一支部队曾在此驻扎，附近留有跑马场、旗竿下等遗迹，此处是军队操练的场地，故有此名。其后，村子处在渔梁岭下的长山垄中，两侧山高林密，杉树成林，木材在此集中外运，遂改名杉坊。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

1998年6月，杉坊村村民委员会改属九牧镇。1984年改属九牧乡，称杉坊村村民委员会；1961年从中分出杉坊大队，归九牧公社管辖。民国时隶属九牧乡，1952年划入第九区的九墩乡，1956年归九牧区管辖并设杉坊乡，次年改为吴杉乡。[3]

地理环境[edit]

村中仍遗存部分古道遗址，旧时这里是通往江浙一带的要道。[1]

散文作家郭风以此村为第二故乡。[1]
