吴东村是浦城县莲塘镇下辖的行政村。村子四周环山，地势较高，村居低凹处，吴姓居多，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时此地属仁风里，民国归临江镇。1950年代初属县第三区，后归临江区。1958年隶城郊公社，编入东山大队；1961年改属下沙公社，设吴东大队。1964年转属莲塘公社；1984年设村民委员会，隶莲塘乡；1998年6月改属莲塘镇。[1]

1998年6月，村中大垄尾自然村的山后出现地裂，有滑坡危险，县里决定迁出山脚下的居民，约五十多户、两百多人。村里在邻村征用的山地上建起新居，当年即有五十户搬迁入住。2007年，县里把村庄定为全县七个中心村建设试点之一。[1][2]
