马西村是浦城县莲塘镇下辖的行政村，村名与一座老桥有关。据传，杨文广途经此桥时所骑之马跪地嘶鸣，故桥名「马嘶桥」，后音转为「马西桥」，村庄在桥的西侧，遂得此名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时村属招贤里，民国属招贤乡。1950年归第七区，1956年改属县仙阳区，1958年隶山桥公社。1964年转入莲塘公社，设马西大队；1984年改设马西村村民委员会，隶莲塘乡；1998年6月改属莲塘镇。[1]
