莲塘镇是福建省南平市浦城县的一个镇，位于县城西郊。镇中心区有兴莲、莲花、虹桥三个社区，其余为农村地区。镇内有红十军解放浦城临时后勤部驻地旧址、真德秀墓、南峰寺功德院等文物保护单位。[1][5][6][7]

历史沿革[edit]

镇名的来历见于清咸丰年间的一则记载：村人挖掘九井、十三塘以防火，水塘彼此相连，人们沿塘建屋，故称「连塘」，后写作莲塘。[1]

宋至清代，今镇域村落分属数个里，其中上相里、招贤里与孝悌里较为常见。民国时境内设过乡。[1]

1950年，此地设立莲塘乡，归第二区管辖。1958年并入城郊人民公社，1961年夏改隶城郊区的山桥公社。1964年初公社机关迁至莲塘村，公社名随之更为莲塘。1984年公社改称乡，至1998年6月29日改设为镇。[1]

2005年，镇域部分地区析出并划归城区，与南浦镇、水南乡建制的撤销一并办理，整合设立了南浦街道与河滨街道。同年设立的兴莲社区与莲花社区，当时由河滨街道办事处管辖，2014年才划归莲塘镇。[1][2][8]

2022年优化社区设置时，新设了虹桥社区。[3]

地理环境[edit]

镇境地处马莲河下游，205国道自北向南穿过全境。境内蕴藏高岭土、花岗岩、萤石、钨等矿产，农业以水稻为主。[1]

人口[edit]

第七次全国人口普查标准时点（2020年11月1日零时）的常住人口为37348人，比2010年第六次全国人口普查增加20494人，是全县19个乡镇、街道中人口增加最多的一个。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

「红十军解放浦城临时后勤部驻地旧址」位于山桥村，时代为1932年，为县级文物保护单位。[1][6]

「真德秀墓」位于颜处村真处山，墓葬年代为南宋，文革时期被破坏，后在原址重修，列为福建省第九批省级文物保护单位。[1][5]

「南峰寺功德院」位于西岩村，时代为宋代，为县级文物保护单位。[1][7]
