上际村是临江镇下辖的行政村。村名的来由是：村落位于临江以东的天师岗南麓高地上，那里是临江镇地势最高处。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时属临江镇。1950年代先后隶属临江乡、第三区和临江区，1956年改属临江区上际乡，1958年设上际大队，1984年设上际村村民委员会，隶属临江镇。[3]

2022年12月，上际村被福建省爱国卫生运动委员会定为「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
