1984年改为今名。1958年为石陂公社的碓下大队；1956年归石陂区石陂镇；1950年属第四区；民国时期隶属布墩乡。[1]

疆域面积22090.9亩，山地占12147.1亩，森林覆盖率为75.4%。下辖七个自然村，分成十一个村民小组。[1]
