大外村位于高阳乡北部，东接安浆村，北邻建瓯市房道镇，距乡政府约3.5公里。村址海拔217米，周围群山环绕。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前这一带叫大外堡，归高阳乡所辖。1954年设为大外乡，划入房村区。1958年，大外大队成立，归建瓯县房道公社领导。1964年，它随建西县的成立转入高阳公社；建西县在1970年取消，村子改由顺昌县高阳公社管理。1984年，村里设立村民委员会，归高阳乡。[1][2][3]
