余塘村位于仁寿镇西北部，面积23.54平方千米，海拔296米，距镇区7.4公里。村子古称杉溪，又名余墩坝。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村子的四周：东侧接长圳林场，西侧与邵武的拿口镇相邻，北面连着建阳的书坊乡，南边是桂溪与塘后两村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时期称余墩坝。解放初期改设余塘乡，归仁寿第五区管辖。1958年成立余塘大队，划入跃进公社；1961年改属仁寿公社。1984年，这里设余塘村村民委员会，归仁寿乡管辖；1994年撤乡设镇后，村改属仁寿镇。[1]
村名的由来：原名余墩坝，解放后曾与邻村并乡，各取一字，遂得名余塘。[1]
村中矮坪自然村曾被定为革命老区基点村。[1]
