口前村位于县城西北，主村口前距县城约20公里，316国道在村中穿过。富屯溪将全村分为南北两岸：南岸为口前、福界洋两个紧相连的自然村，北岸为南舟自然村。村名取义于此地位于水口之前。[1]

2015年10月，口前村入选「福建省第一批省级传统村落」；2022年10月，入选「2022年度南平市绿盈乡村中级版村庄」名单；2024年6月，口前村列入「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]

村内的口前门楼属清代，列为县级文物保护单位。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年以前，村内居民分散在口前、福界洋、虎形厂子尾、上南舟、下南舟等处，1940年前还有白布潭一处，此后居民迁离。公社化后，下南舟并入上南舟，统称南舟；厂子尾也分别并入福界洋和南舟。1982年南舟遭洪水，次年全村迁到现址重建。[2]
